Meet the instructor

Ian Anderson (The Designers Republic)
The legendary British studio The Designers Republic was founded in the 1980s by Ian Anderson. Ian started out designing album covers and posters for the bands and clubs that he was in charge of and played at. This evolved into collaborations with various music labels, including the notable Warp Records. In the 1990s, the work by The Designers Republic reflected bold experiments with computer animation and motion design. New media offered abundant room for creative expression. This gave rise to the intriguing visual style of Wipeout, the famous futuristic racing games series, as well as projects for clients such as MTV, VH1 and Coca Cola. Work by The Designers Republic forms part of the MoMA and V&A’s permanent collections. The studio’s portfolio is a popular inspiration and study source for many graphic designers.
